THREE Mount Isa ladies have raised almost $8000 after going under the clippers for the World’s Greatest Shave to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Hairspray Hairdressing Mount Isa ladies Larnah Puttock, Zoe Harbeck and Kara Thompson were surrounded by loved ones to support them as they shaved of their hair.
Ms Harbeck said shaving off her hair was a small thing compared to what those with cancer were going through.
“I believe people with cancer and Leukaemia don’t often get the choice to lose their hair, where I have a choice to grow my hair or not,” she said.
“I think that Mount Isa’s support is huge and it’s good to see everyone get behind the cause.”
Ms Puttock said the trio relied on social media, charity tins and word of mouth to raise money.
“I’ve had a friend’s daughter pass away from childhood cancer and I shaved off my hair for her 10 years ago and my father is now in remission from Leukaemia,” she said.
Ms Thompson said taking part in the shave was something she had always considered.
“I’ve had about eight family members who have suffered from cancer and this is my way of supporting them and to support a worthy cause,” she said.
COURAGE: Larnah Puttock, Zoe Harbeck and Kara Thompson are all smiles as they mentally prepare themselves before they do the World’s Greatest Shave.
